Great jacket

I was tired of paying a lot of money for coats that would last a year or two before falling apart. I'm a computer guy, but still wanted something that would last. Up here in Alaska Carhartt has quite the reputation. I figured I would give it a try. I've been very happy with it. I've worn it down to single digit temps, layered with the AAC hoodie with no problems. I can only get better as it breaks in. I'm a little torn about the hood. It's almost more like a helmet because of the stiff fabric. But, it's better than nothing when a strong wind gets blowing. Best of all? Made in America. When I showed my dad he was quick to 'correct me' me when I said I bought an American Carhartt jacket. I had to show him the label to prove it wasn't actually made in Mexico or Guatemala. (Seriously guys? Only 5 jackets made in the US? Tsk tsk tsk) I hope to leave another follow-up review after a few years.

The outside is like a soft canvas. Kept me warm while I was shoveling snow. High quality, I think it will last a long time

super heavy duty hoodie

This is a great jacket for when you want that comfort of a hoodie but it is a little too cold to wear a normal hoodie. It seemlessly combines the comfort of hoodie with the warmth of a jacket. This is a great jacket for those cool fall nights spent outside around a fire

Best and most durable jacket I have ever bought!

If you are looking for a jacket thats warm and durable don't overlook this one. I bought this jacket to wear while commuting to work on my motorcycle, and through my years of riding I had not found a jacket that cuts the wind like this one does. With this jacket and a sweatshirt underneath I could hardly feel the wind penetrating through, and if you have ever ridden a motorcycle in cold weather you know that money cant buy a jacket that don't have a little wind penetration. And how's this for durability? After two weeks of wearing my jacket I wrecked my motorcycle. I slid down the paved asphault approx. 100 ft. sustaining extensive injuries to my legs, but my upper body was protected thanks to my Carhartt jacket being to big to fit in my saddle bags for the ride home that evening. The asphault wore only one hole in the outter layer of the jacket, but the insulation and inner lining saved me. After seeing my shredded pants I could not believe my jacket was still in one piece. I hope to purchase another one as soon as I am able. I would definitly recommend this jacket to anyone

Great Quality, but needs to break in

The coat is great for our cold winters, fairly short for a Tall size. The most obnoxious part is the stiffness of the fabric, especially in the hood from being new. It will take several weeks to break it in

Rugged Quality

I am a self employed electrician and have worn this jacket for years. I just spray the water proof on it it each year and we are set. Either on a job or down in the bottoms fixing fence, I can count on it to do it's job

Functional and warm

Needs to be broken in

The lining was a little scratchy and static-y at first but it is becoming softer after about two weeks. The outer fabric is also a little stiff at first but it softens up. Over all is is a great jacket, very warm and I like the way it looks

This jacket is absolutley one of the best coats i have ever owned. With a brand like Carhartt. There definetly worth paying any amount of money. But in this case the jacket is only $85.00. It's worth atleast $120, with the warmth, comfort, and its DEFINEETLY durable in any winter weather. Rather its snow, rain, sleet or hail this jacket is reliable, pracitcally waterproof/snowproof even though its not under the category. I would definetly reccomend this jacket to anyone

great rugged jacket

this item was purchased for my son for christmas this is what he wanted it was his # 1 request not the i pod touch or the lap top i bought him it was this carhartt it looks great and it keeps him warm and up until he got this he wouldnt even wear a coat and if anyone out there has a teenager they know how hard it is to get them to wear a coat it takes a about two weeks to break it in at first it was a little stiff but in the snow and rain and wind if you have this coat its like it doesnt even matter it has no effect it keeps you dry and warm its the best coat ive ever bought ..i would definately buy this coat over and over again now i just have to keep my daughter from tryen to take it she wants to take it and dye it pink ...lol.. so if you want a perfect coat this is a win win situation

I bought this jacket for my son for Christmas. He wore it to a football game in January and it was very cold. He was so warm and it kept him dry too as it was also snowing. The quality is very good and he will have it for years to come

My son loves this jacket. It's very warm and durable. I know he'll grow out of hit before he wears it out. Definitely needs to broken in first as the material is a little stiff

As an installer I work outside most of the time. this jacket is heavy duty But at the same time does not restrict my movement like other items can.This helps me do my job in very harsh weather conditions. I highly recommend this product for anyone working outside in the elements

I got this jacket as a gift for Christmas and have worn it every day since. I'm a carpenter and the jacket is very easy to move around in . The pockets are big so small tools fit in when i need them to. the flannel lining is super warm, it is the warmest jacket that i own. Great gift and awesome jacket

Great Jacket for the winter weather

I bought this jacket for a 16 year old high school student. He needed a good solid warm winter jacket that he could carry around with him during the day but have it look and act just as good after the sun had set. He's been wearing it as his only jacket since he got it. He's a big young man so I bought a 3x and special ordered it over the Internet. Our local Western store sold the same jacket up to size 2x, and he would have taken it that night. But, I told him to wait because he still needed a bigger size to grow into. I'm glad I did. He fills out the 3x comfortably and has room to store his Carhartt watch cap and shove his hands into the pockets! And, with the hood - it stands up and gives more protection than a regular hoodie sweatshirt that the kids love nowadays. He told me yesterday he washed it in a washing machine instead of dry cleaning it and some of the outer duck color has faded, but it still fits him and looks great. This is a great jacket and it withstands the abuse that a teenager can give it! Good job - Carhartt

I initially purchased this jacket for my 12 year old grandson in a Kid's Large size for Xmas. The jacket fit well, but after assessing its durability I returned the jacket for a Men's regular, figuring he'd get several years use before the jacket showed any wear. We've spent several days in the field since then and he reports the jacket warm without layering on 25 degree days and comfortable when bending/twisting, etc. My wife complains I have too many coats/jackets in the closet now, but I'll thin them to make room for my own Active Quilt Jacket next year

Best Quality Around

I bought this jacket for my eighteen year old grandaughter for Christmas. It was what she wanted the most. She takes sheet metal and welding at the local teck school and Carhartt was recomended by her instructer because of the durability. She loves the jacket and wants another one for outside of school
