This Is Our Economy

By: Logan Beam

Our Economy has been falling. What happens when we fall?

America is facing adversity. The American unemployment rate is at 7.8% and millions of citizens are out of work. 46.7 million Americans are on food stamps and 53% of recent college graduates cannot find work. Also, a national debt over $16.1 trillion continues to pile up. Our economy is falling.

Many feel the U.S. economic recovery should be left in the hands of our friends in Washington. Our leaders have welcomed this idea as many have proposed legislation and plans for economic growth. All of this takes time. After this, even more time is spent as partisan sides are exchanging opposing ideas. Thus, nothing gets accomplished quickly.

If America is to rise out of its economic hardship, U.S. citizens must lend a hand to pick it up. Americans can make a difference and help our economy far more quickly than any of our friends in Washington. The difference our citizens can make is simple. It starts in buying USA Made items.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau there are 314,633,365 American citizens (As of Oct 23, 2012). Imagine if every American citizen spent just $100 a year on USA Made items. This would create over $31.4 billion in revenue. That number alone creates thousands of American jobs. These are jobs that will help citizens get off food stamps, college graduates will find work, and these jobs will improve our national debt. Also, these jobs could be created while our leaders in Washington are still proposing plans and legislation.

With the United States manufacturing more items today than any other time in its history, finding USA Made items shouldn’t be a hassle for consumers. In fact, America makes more than $7.1 trillion worth of goods each year which is more than China, Germany, Japan, or any other country on earth. 70% of the American economy is driven by consumer spending which means Americans are clearly spending. Think of the many jobs that can be created if that 70% of consumer spending was spent on USA Made items only.

So what do we do when America faces adversity?

We do what Americans always have done. We take a stand. We manufacture American Made items. We buy American made items such as notepads, pens, and paper. This country even manufactures American Made toilets! Please invest in our future. We will overcome the obstacle of the economy in time. We can do it together. This is our economy.

We get back up. That`s what All Americans do.

New USA made clothing items a ‘great fit’ for job creation in today`s economy.

The All American Clothing Company is thrilled to announce the release of its new men`s dark classic jean. This new item features a gusset, traceability technology, and is USA Made. The gusset feature is a diamond shaped piece of denim sewn into the crotch of the jean. This helps disperse stress around the crotch area, creating a more comfortable fit with freedom of movement.

The new dark classic jean joins a selection of USA Made traceability items. Items in this selection come with ‘Certificate of Authenticity’ that includes a traceability number. Upon receiving their order, shoppers can enter the traceability number on All American Clothing`s website. The USA Made clothing company will then tell consumers exactly which American farmers and mill produced their jeans.

Vote Hard, Vote Well:

With the last registration days ahead I cannot help but talk about voting. The point I would like to make today is that a ‘government of, by, and for the people’ should require an educated and thoughtful vote by its people. We have a right as set forth by our founding fathers to vote. We should respect that right to do so thoughtfully and responsibly.

Sometimes we vote too casually and ignorantly. Some of us cannot name a candidate`s party or intelligently discuss their positions. Better yet, some of us cannot even name the officials and candidates up for election until we see their names on the ballot! We also cast our votes out of habit, influence of tradition, emotion, or by our preferred party. We often rely too heavily on our perspective groups to form opinions on a candidate instead of forming our own views.

I am sharing this with you because I believe voting should be taken seriously. It determines the world in which we live in and the government we leave for our generations to come. So, voting should be a closely controlled decision based on the best information you can attain.

Between now and Election Day, educate yourself about the policies you support. Figure out which candidate supports those policies and the kind of government YOU want, not the government your party, relatives, and co-workers want. Focus on what YOU want. If it helps, try not to speak about politics. Keep your insights and opinions locked up until it is time to visit the polls. Your voice will eventually be heard.
